How To Use Android Mobile Internet on Computer

What is more convenient when you are able to use your mobile internet on computer? This is possible by using your Android smartphone as a modem to get internet on your PC. Today I’ll answer the question of  how to use android mobile internet on computer.

The whole process is called“Tethering”. Tethering your Android smartphone with your computer enables the device to share its cellular data connection, either it’s GPRS, EDGE, 3G or 4G-LTE, with your computer so it can access the Internet even when a wired connection is unavailable.

Android 4.0 and above offers three different ways to create tethering connection between the smartphone and the computer. Connecting your computer to your Android phone using a USB cable directly shares the Internet. Bluetooth-enabled computers can also pair with the phone to share cellular data. The Android devices also offers a portable WiFi Hotspot feature that creates a WiFi hotspot to which up to eight computers can connect and share the cellular data. Before proceeding, make sure you have obtained mobile data package and enabled mobile Internet on your phone. Note that signal strength will impact speed, which might result in battery charge decreasing faster as the phone puts effort into downloading less data than it might with a full signal.

USB Connection

  1. Connect the Android smartphone with your computer using USB data cable.
  2. Now on your Android device, openSettings > Wireless & networks > More and find Tethering & portable hotspot.How to use android phone internet on computer
  3. Check the USB Tethering option. A symbol in notification area should appear to confirm that the phone is now tethered to your computer.
  4. Now you can use the internet on your computer.

Bluetooth Tethering

  1. Turn on the Bluetooth, go toBluetooth Settings in your phone and make your phone Visible to other Bluetooth Devices.
  2. Click the Start button on your computer, Click “Devices and Printers” and then “Add a Device”. Select your Android phone from the List and click “Next” to run the wizard and pair your phone.
  3. Now on your Android device, open Settings > Wireless & networks > More and find Tethering & portable hotspot.Share android mobile data via Bluetooth
  4. Check the Bluetooth Tethering option. A symbol in notification area should appear to confirm that the phone is now tethered to your computer.
  5. Now you can use the internet on your computer.

WiFi Hotspot

This is the most convenient option of all the three available.

  1.  On your Android device, open Settings > Wireless & networks > More and find Tethering & portable hotspot.
  2. Check “Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot”. On some phones, this option may be available as “Portable WLAN Hotspot”.How to setup wifi hotspot on android phone free
  3. Tap “Configure Wi-Fi Hotspot” or “Configure WLAN Hotspot”.  Enter your preferred SSID (Network name), Security Mode and Password in the configuration screen and then tap“Save”.
  4. Connect your computer’s WiFi to your phone’s WiFi Hotspot using the SSID you configured in the previous step same as you connect to any other WiFi network.
  5. Now you can use the internet on your computer.

Keep in mind that using your phone’s data plan could incur significant data charges if you go over your allotted bandwidth or data limit.
